Blind Punditry
Lots of very confident pundits the past week.
Lots of very confident pundits the past week.
I remember Trump’s first term in office and it was a chaotic mess. Yet he’s running on the same slogan for the third time. I’m not apt to believe him.
GOP Playbook: Can’t get the votes for the legislation you want? Shut down the government! 🙄
Stupid way to run a government.
It’s clear that Trump has never bought bread before.
Republicans often don’t get that most Democrats would jettison their own candidates if there’s proof of real corruption.
Trump will appear today at CPAC, trotting out the same campaign slogan from 8 years ago.
In a speech set against a fiery backdrop, President Biden called out Trump and the MAGA extremism as a threat to US democracy.
It was a sharp rebuke of the extreme faction within the Republican Party and their unwavering loyalty to Trump.
And I can’t disagree with Biden. This week Trump was on his Truth Social platform calling for the 2020 election to be overturned and Trump to be installed as President. Or at least to toss out the 2020 election and immediately have another election.
If you don’t see that as the totalitarian and anti-democratic move that it is, you’re kidding yourself.
Of course, several Republicans and MAGA devotees decried the speech.
But when they’ve spent the past 6 years wearing shirts, flying flags, and tossing comments saying, “Fuck Your Feelings,” I don’t feel too badly if their feelings are hurt.
Upon losing the Republican primary for re-election, NC Representative Madison Cawthorn released a rant, saying: “The time for gentile politics as usual has come to an end. It’s time for the rise of the new right, it’s time for Dark MAGA to truly take command.”
While it sounds like some awful call to assemble a team of super villains, it seems he’s just speaking to the worse nature of the movement.
Trouble is, the MAGA movement has already assembled a motley crew of some awfulness. So, I’m not sure that we’ll be able to tell the difference.
